Kamikochi
Kamikochi surrounded by the Japan Alps is a scenic highland basin in Nagano Prefecture. The altitude of the Kamikochi is about 1,500 meters above sea level.
The Azusa River flows from Mt. Yariga-take through the center of the Kamikochi and beautiful ponds, marshes and primeval forests spread out on the both side of the river.
From 1975, private cars were prohibited from entering the basin to preserve nature. To visit to the Kamikochi, people have to use the buses and taxies from the car parking near the Kama Tunnel.
